Our Philosophy

Vision and Core Values

At SunGarden Montessori, we are dedicated to nurturing the development of the whole child. Each day, we view every child with fresh eyes, embracing their unique qualities and individual potential. Our carefully prepared Montessori environments are designed to support the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of every child, fostering growth at their own pace. We create an atmosphere that encourages independent learning, self-confidence, and collaborative interaction, ensuring that each child’s journey is both meaningful and enriching.

Montessori education is at the core of our philosophy, guiding our commitment to providing an environment that respects the child's natural development and individuality.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At SunGarden Montessori Children’s House, we deeply value diversity within our students and staff. We welcome individuals of all races, disabilities, veteran status, sexual orientations, gender identities, nationalities, ethnicities, religions, and family constellations to participate in all of our programs and activities. We are committed to non-discrimination in all educational, hiring, admission, and school-administered policies. Our vision is for SunGarden to mirror the rich diversity of our community, embracing different cultures, economic backgrounds, and supporting individual or special educational needs.

Intellectual Development

At SunGarden Montessori, our Guides introduce the "magic" of Montessori materials, sparking each child's natural curiosity and desire to explore. Through hands-on, repeated use of these thoughtfully designed materials, children develop a deep understanding of essential intellectual and developmental concepts. This joyful, child-centered approach encourages full engagement in their work, leading to a profound sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. Our Montessori environment fosters independence, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.

Social Development

In our mixed-age Montessori community, children consistently engage in conflict resolution through Grace and Courtesy lessons. With the guidance and modeling of respectful adults, children are encouraged to practice positive social interactions, building essential skills in communication, empathy, and problem-solving. These daily opportunities foster a sense of respect and cooperation, helping each child develop meaningful relationships and a strong sense of community.

Physical Development

At SunGarden, we understand the critical role that physical activity plays in brain development and the refinement of both large and small motor skills. Our thoughtfully designed natural outdoor environments provide children with daily opportunities for exploration, discovery, play, gardening, and engaging in nature activities. These experiences support their physical growth while fostering a deep connection to nature.

Commitment to Quality

SunGarden Montessori Children’s House is a 501c3 non-profit AMI-USA associated school for children ages 3–6, and we also offer a non-recognized toddler program for children ages 16 months to 3 years. We are committed to our toddler program becoming AMI recognized over the next few years.

Our AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) - certified primary Guides (teachers) and assistants, along with our dedicated toddler program staff, create a nurturing, respectful atmosphere where children learn and grow at their own pace.

While one of our primary guides is partially AMS trained, we are committed to having AMI-certified Guides in all three classrooms by Fall 2026.

Outcomes of Montessori

At SunGarden Montessori, children who complete the full Montessori cycle through Kindergarten receive a comprehensive, child-focused education rooted in the Montessori philosophy. Our program introduces children to a diverse range of Montessori materials in essential areas such as practical life skills, sensory development, language acquisition, early math, creative arts, music, science, and geography. SunGarden's Montessori approach promotes independence, confidence, intrinsic motivation, social responsibility, and strong academic preparedness. By focusing on the holistic development of each child, we ensure they gain essential life skills and a lifelong passion for learning. With a commitment to excellence in Montessori education, SunGarden Montessori provides a strong foundation for children’s future success, offering a nurturing environment that embraces the Montessori method.
