Our Philosophy

Vision and Core Values

At SunGarden, we consciously strive to aid the development of the whole child. To see each child with fresh eyes every day, embracing each child's unique qualities. All of the environments are thoughtfully prepared to support each child’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical developmental needs.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

SunGarden Montessori Children’s House values diversity among our students. We welcome students and staff of any race, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, color, nationality and ethnicity, religion, and family constellation to all programs and activities at the school. The school does not discriminate in its educational hiring, admission, or school-administered policies. It is our goal that SunGarden reflects the rich diversity of our community, including varied cultures, economic status, and individual or special educational needs.

Intellectual

Guides at SunGarden introduce the “magic” of the Montessori materials to each child, building upon the child’s innate curiosity. The materials come alive for children through repeated manipulation. This repetition then leads to a deep understanding and appreciation of key intellectual and developmental concepts. This joyful approach invites children to participate in every aspect of their work, resulting in deep satisfaction and fulfillment wholly.

Social

Living in a mixed-age community, guided by Grace and Courtesy lessons, regularly practiced conflict resolution. The modeling and encouragement of respectful adults allow children daily opportunities to practice positive social interactions.

Physical

Recognizing the refinement of large and small motor skills is a driving force within young children and that movement of the hand directly influences brain development. The natural outdoor environments are designed for children’s exploration, discovery, play, gardening and nature activities; and are available throughout the day, each day.

Commitment to Quality

SunGarden Montessori Children’s House is a non-profit AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) recognized school for children 3 – 6 years of age. AMI- certified teachers and assistants create a nurturing, respectful atmosphere in which children learn and grow at their own pace.

Outcomes of Montessori

Each child who completes the full cycle through Kindergarten at SunGarden will be assured of a well-rounded Montessori experience, being introduced to the full range of materials in all areas – practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, art, music, science and geography.

SunGarden fosters a greater sense of independence, confidence, intrinsic motivation, social responsibly, academic preparedness, and so much more!
